Easy Checklist: Packing For Your Next Trip

Do you stress when it’s time to pack?

Does even the thought of packing feel overwhelming? One of the most common things I am asked is; “Can you please send me a packing list?”

To avoid feeling any stress about packing, here’s the key list of everything you need to know to get ready for your next trip.

First things first

The biggest mistake is waiting to pack the night before. A big no no! Packing needs to begin at least one week in advance. This may seem like a pain at first – who wants to plan a week in advance? But by being mindful, reviewing this list early, you will make sure everything you want is clean and ready. That way you won’t start your trip with a rushed mind = stress.

Pro tips

  • Carry hard copies of travel documents – just in case
  • Snap a pic of your passport and email it to yourself
  • One week before, leave your suitcase open and start dropping things into it
  • Thread necklaces through a straw to stay tangle free
  • Lay out everything you think you’ll wear – cut this in half!
  • Leave room for gifts and souvenirs
  • Use clear toiletry bags for ease of finding things in a snap
  • Research the weather, the culture, the etiquette, the dress code
  • Learn how to say common greetings and thank you in their language
  • Use packing cubes
  • Hydrate throughout the journey
  • Hire a local guide for a day tour in your destination
  • Label your suitcase with your e-mail rather than your home address

What’s the one thing I pack on every trip?

A sarong because it’s the most versatile item I own. A beautiful sarong is a a skirt, a dress, a bathing suit cover-up, a beach blanket and the topper to my suitcase that holds everything in place. Don’t have a sarong? Buy one when you arrive. It’s also my favorite souvenir.
